HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Central Saint Martins student Mary Gwen was attempting to illustrate for a university project but with 1.5m thick walls and no heating she found little comfort drawing.

Hopeless at lighting fires and with a bird nest blocking the main chimney, Mary Gwen attempted to draw in the kitchen, the oven on full blast and it’s door open. Like many others in winter, Mary Gwen was wearing several layers of clothing and found her coat restrictive. She longed for something more accommodating, yet stylish to keep her warm.

Mary Gwen had an idea and set about making it. Throwing down her pencils, she jumped in her vintage car and drove down the mountain to the village post office to buy a roll of brown paper.

Realising quality was synonymous to her brand, Mary Gwen sought out experts to advise her as she developed her first collection. With the support of Somerset House and working with Royal Warrant tailors, Redwood and Feller, Mary Gwen went straight to the top.

Eager to satisfy the expectations of customers who are accustomed to high end fashion Mary Gwen felt this collaboration and mentorship would establish quality foundations for style and longevity. Every stitch, pocket and detail has been expertly crafted and considered to not only look aesthetically pleasing, but complementary to the figure.

Mary Gwen hopes her customers enjoy wearing her designs every bit as much as she has enjoyed creating them.
